In Poe Middle School there is a bunch of previous monitors our principal offer a teacher position, with a minimum knowledge ability to teach! Who are suffering the consequences are the students. Im wondering if fcps is aware of this.
LOL of course FCPS is aware. Take a look at the threads on this page and you'll understand why this is a problem.
We have teacher trainees who haven’t passed the praxis yet and this will be going into the 3rd year next year. They aren’t doing this program anymore and are not hiring without praxis. But we have trainees still in their positions even with people being de-staffed across the county. I am sure they are great teachers and they want it. But it’s unfair that I had to take that test to renew my license before I could get hired and they are safe in their job. And they aren’t allowed to do IEPs or have SPED so they are leaving a lot of work for the rest of the team.
We haven’t heard of de-staffs in years and we are both teachers
?? It happens at schools every year. There's a hiring freeze right now because they need to place all the de-staffs. I agree with the other PP who said the Praxis should be required before you get hired. Virginia also quietly got rid of the VCLA requirement as of this summer. If you can't pass the VCLA you have no business writing IEPs, writing lesson plans, or teaching kids how to read and write.
There is a teacher shortage-you have a point but if we are being honest schools are in a tough place. Parents want to say no no not in FCPS....yes FCPS has a shortage.
