Coaches won’t meet with 8th grade players. Not allowed.
I didn’t mean an actual meeting, I just mean to see what they are like as a coach Abe meet them
Huh? Your post said “Try taking your kid to the colleges so they can see the campus and meet the coaches to find out if that is a school they might be interested in.” How else can this be interpreted? It’s important people understand coaches will violate NCAA rules if they meet / speak directly with players prior to Sept 1 of their junior year.
Believe it or not, when you go to a camp you meet the coach. There is a difference between a recruiting meeting the coach and someone just going to a camp and meeting the coach. And there are different rules at camps/clinics. What do you expect coaches and players to do at these camps? Close their eyes and wear duct tape so there is no communication? No one is saying they have private meetings. You should probably learn the rules before you talk about them.
Let’s review. Your first post dissuaded readers from going to Apex and AU Futures. You called them a “waste”. Then you recommended, in place of camps, that players visit campuses and “meet the coaches” instead. I pointed out this wasn’t allowed. You then argued a completely different point about player / coach interaction at camp events. Which made no sense since you advised people *not to do them*.) And please tell me about the rules. My kid’s at a top D1 and yours is in 8th grade. I truly have no idea what I’m talking about. If you think top head coaches are personally interacting with eighth graders at these camps (beyond taking selfies) you are smoking the good stuff. You clearly think far higher of your DD than they do at this age. How ‘bout you stop talking about things you think you know about. Backpedaling to save face when you’re called out for making no sense isn’t the best look. Maybe exhibit some self control and start listening for a change - you might learn something.
