It is something not really replicated in individual training or an EDP league weakened by the move to these other leagues.  The other teams - Potomac, FCGB, even Rush playing up on 2007 in MD  are just not very strong (you can research it) -  though your kid could have a good experience.    If you have a technical ECNL team with a technical coach, that gap will be  even wider.     Or do you get on an ECNL team now. U13 is an entry year for most teams as they have to increase the roster- and its a year where spots shuffle around.  Most teams move from a roster of 12-14 to 15-18.

Right now, the two programs most physically accessible to MD parents that provide this are Mclean and BSC.  MD United is a  weak year. Pipeline is likely too far for most, but a very good option   Other Nova teams are likely also  too far and then the ECNL/GAL debate.  Arlington is GAL.  Metro was newer with DA and trouble fielding teams and now GAL.

The whole ECNL / GAL has several threads on it.  ECNL has a track record of college exposure.  GAL is former DA.  For MD area, ECNL got a huge benefit as former DA teams joined ECNL, the region is now less travel, but still strong with PDA teams and now addition of Pipeline.

Good luck to parents thinking about this.  This board and some threads can provide some insights - if you take out some of the folks who have personal agendas.
