So to summarize team Ukraine today: Yay new weapons to blow up a civilian bridge! Trying to win a land war by targeting their opponents navy. At least your not talking about poisoning water supplies anymore. No wonder so many supporters are writing them off now. They've been revealed to be blood-thirsty and not very competent.
The bridge is the key to completely removing Russia from Ukraine. It's not a 'civilian' bridge. It's the primary logistical resupply route for Crimea. And once it's been blown up, the Russian forces there will need to evacuate. Blood-thirsty? lol. You beg for sympathy for rapists murderers, kidnappers of children, or other war crimes committed by Russian troops? All Russia has to do is withdraw, yet no one who is pro-Russian on this thread can explain why Russia invaded in the first place, nor why they don't withdraw this very second? Russia is beyond salvation at this point.
Well I could direct you to dozens of writings by the U.S. scholars and diplomats who all warned, for decades, that Ukraine's NATO membership aspirations would be a very bright red line for Russia, but I'm sure you'd write them all off as propaganda.
They were not NATO members or anywhere near close to joining when Russia illegally invaded Ukraine. Ironically , Russia has pushed them and formerly neutral nearby countries much closer to joining NATO. There is no justification for Russia’s behavior.
Well it'd be too late to attack them if they were members already, wouldn't it. Dozens of US diplomats have made it clear in their cables home that Russia would take the Ukraine-NATO flirtation very poorly indeed. Was it really worth it to NOT say that NATO membership is not on the table? The sad part is that everyone, EVERYONE knew NATO had no intention of admitting Ukraine but refused to say it out loud.
