They are actually separate organizations. The people who run valor wanted to pay themselves without being beholden to anyone on the boards of rec sports organizations. They do not get their own field permits, though, they steal space allotted to the SYA and CYA rec kids.
On paper they are separate but the COI's are nonstop. The admins for Valor are also admins for CYA and SYA. The turf fields, under the SYA/CYA banner are give the the clubs first and IF there is any space left, a Rec team may get a slot, otherwise, they are relegated to shitty grass fields. The Director of Coaching at SYA is a Valor coach as well. There has been a big push within SYA to create an Academy program for the Rec kids who don't want to go to Valor but it has fallen on deaf ears. As a result, several very well-liked coaches will be leaving Rec to form their own independent club teams through VISTA. While CYA does allow their 11U and 12U kids to play NCSL-Rec (SFL), CYA does not forcing everyone to continue to play in the house league. What are you going to do?? People move on and nothing changes and then everyone comes here to complain about the same issues that happen over and over. It's a good business model for them because there are more wide-eyed parents every year to fill the slots and write the $3500 checks.
