This thread is eye-opening with these self-proclaimed MAGA who swear they love Europe. Let's see if they change their mind when Russia starts invading with Trump's blessing.
Europe must take care of itself. The U.S. is not the world's policeman.
Except being the policeman meant opening up and solidifying markets for our businesses, which led to massive expansion of American globalnational corporations and great wealth for the USA. Pulling back on that means others will assume that role, diminishing the US value on the global stage. we are seeing that with Europe rebuilding its defense capacity and China and Russia filling the void in third world countries.
I am not MAGA but some of the grievances on Europe are valid. Europe still owes us for saving their asses in WWI and WWII. However, how is it that Europe was allowed to not only rebuild their economies but thrive so quickly after having their entire continent destroyed twice? Please. Americans didn't exploit Europe but allowed it to grow as big as it did because America opened its market to Europe even though Europe imposed so many protectionist trade policies against America. We even allowed so many Europeans to migrate here after WWII, people that the European countries didn't have to support while rebuilding. Not only that, but the Marshall Plan and NATO were backed by American taxpayers. The Soviets and the Warsaw Pact countries aren't anywhere near us so it was mainly to protect their asses while also making sure they don't start another war that we'd have to save them in again. We also don't have to deal with resurgent Nazi or white nationalist parties in America like they have in basically every country in Europe. Yes, there are a bunch of racist white fkers in America but they don't have the same history and they also don't have the same poll numbers or influence as in Europe. The fact is that Europe is still a provincial and arrogant group of tribes that obviously have a bunch of Nazis in their midst and they seem to be fine with just hiding them away a few years at a time. Europeans have loved to sht on America and say how bad things such as racism and crime are. However, racism has always been worse there but there just haven't been too many people to hate on until now. And you cant make the argument that if we don't "x" then Europe is going to do "y" because why aren't you calling them out for being such a bunch of a-holes then? If they really felt some sort of bond with America (i.e, "white people unite!") then they wouldn't jump so quickly to another sugar daddy once the America piggybank is empty. In the case of that argument, why then should America feel some sort of bond with Europe? Should we not in fact be exploiting them just like they think they can do to us? Contrarily, when I've visited Asia or spoken to older people from Asia in this country, old people from many countries have been quick to thank America for saving their country from (fill-in-the-blank) leader/country. (I'm not claiming that America hasn't done a lot of bad behavior in those countries or excusing it.) However, I have never met anyone from Europe that has said anything close to this (even though America saved the continent from cultural extinction) except some grandmothers (who survived the Holocaust) of my friends when I was in grade school way back when. We definitely should maintain NATO but Europe should be paying for the bulk of it at this point and not be freeriding anymore. Seriously, they have serious issues with their border countries like Hungary and Turkey. Why does America have to even police those countries within the EU? Does Brussels have to worry about illegal oil deals by Michigan or Texas? Yes Chump this and GayDee that. But American leaders come and go. The point stands. On China and Russia, I think we should bury Russia (economically) and better formalize a Pacific Treaty from the Philippines to Japan and down to Australia/NZ. But this is impossible because too many Japanese like the current PM exist. The future of the world is in Asia (populations, economies, militaries, etc.) so America needs to focus its energy there and it (along with Pacific allies) need to have command over that ocean.
Your knowledge of history is much weaker than you think.
