You should not take kid’s phones away. As a parent of a child attending, that would be a red flag to me.
+1. My kid would never go over to your house again. Don’t host sleepovers if you plan to take other kid’s phones. As for advice, as your daughter. They will probably be happy with lots of snacks she picks out and something on tv she picks. My daughter would love the Era movie, a bunch of face masks for them to try out and a variety of snacks.
People say this all the time, but I don't think anyone is saying they are going to take your child's phone and lock it in a safe. Plenty of people have phone baskets at the front door - kids have access to their phones at all times, but they're not going to be attached to them while watching movies. I haven't had to do this because my kids' friends are very respectful, but I have asked my friends about this and they all think it's a great idea.
+1 I think people are assuming that their kid has zero access to their phones once they step into the house. Its more to encourage kids to focus on the being together when there are activities are going on as well as prevent bad late night decision making. And yes kids may bring burner phones or engage in other risky behavior but you can only limit as much as possible. Also why shouldn't families that make that rule be allowed to host sleepovers? If they let you know ahead of time you can decide if you are or are not ok with your child attending.
