Exactly this. I love learning about different cultures and respect all of them, but I’m not sure the Super Bowl, which is known for being American, should be about only other cultures. If they had made it “all American”, there would be so much backlash. Can you imagine if there were only white people in it? I thought it was a beautiful performance, just not appropriate for this situation.[/quote]

One of the three singers in the show, the one who performed for the second longest was white.  So people asking where the white people in this show missed the white lady front and center?

Agree. It demonstrates how the person who wrote it is white and doesn’t believe American culture is anything other than their own white culture. It discounts and minimizes anything else in our culture that is not their own limited experience. To me the show was exactly what American culture means to me. A celebration that we are many things, have many cultures and experiences and they are all valid. Full stop. [/quote]
