This is a good point. I don’t think Savannah would be staying at the house if there was any likelihood of this. It also kind of does not make sense in terms of motive- why do this to your 84 year old mother in law? She did not have a ton of assets and with her age and health issues is (realistically) not going to be around for too may more years. [/quote]

I don’t think most people her age have life insurance? Most just take out term policies to get through the childrearing years (and perhaps a little beyond). Like a 20yr term policy. At least that is my understanding. Our kids are teens and we don’t plan to take out any additional life insurance.  [/quote]
