It is SUCH a stretch to try to make the Dad out to be the jerk. Give me a break. It was his son's birthday and I'm sure he thought it would be very special to catch a ball for his kid to bring home. Who would begrudge him that? That ball has no value other than the sentimental value. And it is absolutely a first-come, first-serve situation! Any mature adult would have seen where he was going with it and been like "oh good--it's for his kid" and felt pretty good about the whole situation. She behaved badly. ALL THAT BEING SAID, I completely agree that the online harassment and doxxing has become a terrifying cultural phenomenon and no one deserves it. But if you generally behave like a normal, respectful human being, it is unlikely to happen to you.
He was absolutely WRONG.. It was her ball. He could have asked for it after the fact explaining it was his son's birthday but it was not in his section and it was in hers. I can understand why she was upset and she had every right to be. Why is it ok for a man to do this?
YOU’RE WRONG. The two of them were in the same section. No one caught the ball. The ball ended up in an empty seat. It was fair game for anyone. He got there first because he was in the same row where the ball had come to a rest in the seat. To get his hands on the ball first, he had to have left his seat before it was clear exactly where the ball was going to end up — which was perfectly fine because there were many empty seats in their section. The guy didn’t have to step over anyone. It would have been her ball if she’d caught it or been the one who picked it up after it landed. She did neither. The only reason she ever had any shot at getting the ball was because it landed near her, and she still couldn’t beat anyone else to it. She’s a sore loser, and as another poster put it, also a sore winner for flipping off the crowd after she was given the ball.
