Turning the Lord and Taylor into a WMATA bus garage is nuts. Makes me question the credibility of the entire plan.
I know, I was hoping for retail. Maybe a Nordstrom.
Well, they have to put the buses somewhere...
And in that regard it seems better to put the buses at L&T because that frees up a big parcel directly on Wisconsin. This is not the hill to die on.
Sure - put the bus garage closer to the residential neighborhood to make the property closer to Wisconsin more valuable for favored developers. Thanks, Bowser! And where is our council member, Mr Pickleball? Not standing up for current residents.
I live about 1.5 blocks from both the current bus site and the L&T site and definitely think it's better to move the bus garage off of Wisconsin -- not because it'll make the property more valuable for developers, though it will, but because I'd rather have a commercial/residential building that might have stuff I want to do on Wisconsin than a bus garage, and I'd rather have a bus garage than an empty department store on the L&T site. I don't see the problem with having electric buses near houses, anyway.
