Great summary DG. Thank you. Hero's and M&D also have fantastic recruiting results to be proud of. I assume Skywalkers also does very well. I was a little surprised to see that Capital generally had slightly higher T20 and Ivy numbers with generally lower ranked teams. Can someone explain to me the most likely reason for the disconnect? Is it simply more dedicated recruiting resources and effort at Capital? Or is it something about the girls unrelated to lacrosse, perhaps academic profile that opens different doors?
One big stat everyone overlooks and that is not published is the amount of money girls get to attend the school. If you can afford the full cost, schools are much more willing to add you to the roster. A roster full of commits, with no scholarship money is a deceiving stat for those who can’t afford $50,000 a year in tuition. Not many of the capital girls are getting a lot of money. Ivies don’t give any money, so that is more about deep pockets than lacrosse ability.
LMAO. Top 20 schools aren't just lopping people on to the roster. The Ivies are only going to be able to give admissions help to the number of recruits that make the roster. As close to 100% are going to need that help. That's the team they get, Ivy coaches aren't bringing in players because they can pay tuition. That's 1-2,000 pop D3 schools or lower D1. Thanks for the laugh.
Disagree. With rosters around 38, the bottom half (19 girls) are likely there because their parents are paying full sticker price (many D.C. parents can afford to do this). They only had 12 scholarships to give out before this new ruling. Additionally, that bottom half likely has very good grades to keep the team GPA up. The top 19 are the real players. The rest are practice players with good grades and/or wealthy parents. Perfect profile for D.C. kids.
BINGO!!!
