This article on Lochte says it all. Hopefully he's done after this fiasco. Good riddance. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/ryan-lochte-a-champion-swimmer-caught-in-a-riptide-of-self-absorption/2016/08/18/673d9bdc-6540-11e6-96c0-37533479f3f5_story.html?hpid=hp_rhp-top-table-main_jenkins-855pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory
I agree with her characterization of Lochte, but her ass kissing of Brazil is a bridge too far. It is still a crime infested country where just the other day, an Australian athlete was ordered to take cash out of an ATM during a robbery. Also, in this incident, a nut job security guard DID pull a gun on the swimmers because they were being "violent." Well, they were all sitting in a car, so how violent could they have been? The author downplays this as a slight overreaction. I know that lefties in the media are supposed to show their adoration for every third world country, but get real!
I'm extremely liberal but I agree with you.
I didn't get the ass kissing of Brazil. I got that Lochte's ridiculous behavior has allowed Brazil to focus on this one very high profile fake incident and hide all the other very credible reports of acts of violence committed in Rio during the Olympics. The British athlete who was mugged barely got any coverage because all eyes were on Lochte. Every time someone brings up the green pool, the contaminated water, poor security, poor attendance, camera crews having equipment stolen....Brazil will refocus everything on how things were exaggerated and point to Lochte. Thanks Ryan for your tremendous contribution to the 2016 Olympics
