This might be a stupid question, but are these changes ACTUALLY supposed to occur this fall? The FCPS website says these are for the 26-27 school year, but I can't imagine how they are going to make that work. Please be kind in your responses to me. I am overwhelmed by being the "sandwich generation," currently caring for a parent and a child with a life-threatening diagnosis, so I may not be processing as well as I typically would. Thank you in advance to anyone who can kindly help me understand.
There are other boundary changes that were adopted in January 2026 that will occur starting this fall for the 2026-27 school year. These changes are discussed at https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/boundary-adjustments-information/adopted-2024-2026-boundary-review However, any boundary adjustments relating to the opening of Skyview HS, which are discussed at https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/boundary-adjustments-information/skyview-high-school-and-western-pyramids-boundary, would not take place until the fall of 2027 for the 2027-28 school year, and even then families affected may be allowed to "opt out." It's a bit murky.
