In 2021, Affleck received backlash for comments during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show. While discussing his alcohol abuse, Affleck appeared to inadvertently diss his ex. “Part of why I started drinking was because I was trapped,” the actor told Stern. “I was like, ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ And what I did was [I] drank a bottle of scotch and fell asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.” Affleck later set the record straight and continued to praise his ex. “I had gone on and said how much we respect each other and cared about each other, and cared about our kids and put them first and went through our stuff,” he clarified to Jimmy Kimmel, adding that the following stories made him out to be “the exact opposite of who I am.” “I would never want my kids to think I would ever say a bad word about their mom,” Affleck continued. “Because I never had, I never would.” Never a bad word? He said he felt trapped in the marriage because he had kids.
That wasn’t anything bad about Jen. That was his feelings about his own position of being in the marriage. Wanting out of a marriage because it isn’t working and feeling conflicted about that doesn’t mean the same as talking badly about someone. He is allowed to have feelings about his own life.
Of course. And you share those feelings in therapy, and with your closest friends. It is incredibly disrespectful to the mother of your children to share that with Howard Stern.
+ 1 million and that advice is for anyone who cares about his.her family
I think we've established his maturity level is pathetic.
+1 Those who feel the need to share with the world are self-serving and have an incredible need for attention and validation.
+2 Anyone who shares negative info about their family/ex-relatives publicly has low self esteem and is desperate for attention and approval. It's such a needy, immature, vengeful, petty thing to do. This would have been better suited for a buddy talk with Matt Damon, not shared with the world via Howard Stern.
