NO ONE on this show is "close to marriage."  They are getting closer to ENGAGEMENT (maybe).  The kids are spending about 1-2 hrs in the same house as this guy.  Kids don't care that much -- they are not invested or emotionally attached anymore than Ellen's grandkids are.  The kids will be mad for a day when they see their grandma dumped... and then they'll move on.  It's not the same thing as a single mother bringing her boyfriend into the home for months, the kids get used to eating dinner with the boyfriend, playing with the boyfriend, getting tucked in by the boyfriend -- and then he's all of a sudden out of their lives.  This is a nice man playing catch with them for 15 min. in the backyard.  The kids are just having fun.
