Angelo answer: I can appreciate that! It’s definitely important to have School Board members who know what it’s like to be a student in school today.
So what you want to know is the extent of my engagement with APS to date. While I couldn’t actually list them all for you, I’ve been in our schools for a range of community events in the past. Like many of our present board members, I do not come to the race as an APS alum. I have been a member of the School Health Advisory Board, a working group member in the County’s Food Security Coalition, and have been involved in youth programs and organizing around the region through the years. I may not possess decades of experience in our school system specifically, but I do believe that’s largely a function of my exceptional youth and therefore an effect of that unique proposition of my candidacy.
