Apart from being hit in the arm by something truly massive like a .50 cal or getting hit in the hand or foot and losing a finger or toe this idea of it completely ripping limbs off is largely untrue.  I think a large number of you most fervent gun nuts own guns, you take them to the range and shoot them, you play video games where you pretend to shoot people and things, but in practice, you've never actually put those two things together and never shot a living thing and you don't actually know what you're talking about, so you just make things up.  Given your cluelessness let's hope that you never actually do shoot a living thing.[/quote]

I’ve shot plenty of living things with various types of handguns, rifles and shotguns. Mostly game animals or nuisance pests, along with several human beings. Yes, I’ve killed people with a machinegun. But none of them were blown in half or dismembered. I know this for certain because we had to collect their bodies afterwards for dignified transfer to the ANA so they could be sent home to their klan and buried.

Yes.  Then you know the PP was full of shit for saying if a bullet misses you from a foot away it will tear your skin off and if a bullet hits you in your arm your entire arm will go flying.  And, you quite likely also know people who lived after being hit by a rifle bullet that caught their vest.

No I am definitely NOT in agreement with that statement. Plus, a “combat arm” is whatever I say it is. And the thing I was MOST wary of when I left the FOB each time for a patrol or convoy wasn’t a guy with an AK, RPK, PKM, DDSK or RPG - it was the prospect of a guy out there 500-900 yards away with a 100 year old .303 Enfield bolt action with a scope, left over for generations after the British empire.

In other words - the equivalent of the typical “deer hunting rifle”, as people here who know nothing about guns tend to think of when they think “hunting rifle”.

Other than an IED or mortar, that’s the Number 1 Thing that made my skin crawl.
