Exaggerate much?  I hunt with a .308 and never ripped the hide off of anything by missing it by a foot, never blew a deer or bear's limbs off let alone cut one in half.  Nor for that matter when I hunted with a .30-06 or .32 Winchester which pack more power than a .308.[/quote]

.308 will take a human arm off under 300 meters.

A 30 or 50 cal within a foot of target removes skin from concussion.  No exaggeration.
