From my understanding the McLean players won't be able to tryout for the MLS Next teams. When they say dual roster they're talking about select players on the Green team dual roster with the ECNL team. On the boys side I see McLean taking the top 11 from each team and then opening up the 11+ other spots to better players whether they are from SYC or not. Their goal is to make the McLean team's very competitve in ECNL. There's going to be a big shakeup on the Green and White teams cause the players that don't make ECNL will tryout for the Green and White teams and take positions away from those existing players. Do those 11 ECNL players that were cut fill positions on the Green team? It sucks cause now everyone is scrambling to get into other area club tryouts in May when ECNL teams can hold official tryouts. What's really sad is I do see a lot of players hanging it up because of this shakeup. Another thing that sucks is politics and I'm sure some incentives/kickbacks to have your kid on the ECNL team are happening. I know for a fact that a player on one of the team's is there solely because the parent and coach know one another outside of the club. The player isn't ECNL level, but is only there because of that relationship. And I'm sure the parents that volunteer in the team management positions are also getting priority for ECNL. I've never been one to kiss the coaches ass so my kid will stay on the team but I'm sure those parents are leveraging that. Another thing McLean needs to do is stop having kids play up a year. Kids should be playing their age group to strengthen that age group's team and just have them practice with the older team. Anyhow, lots of kids will be affected by this which in the end just really sucks.
That's nothing I know a lot more shady things are going on. I hope the club cleans this up cause it's not fair but then again life isn't fair. Also, it's sad MYS doesn't push respect, honor, integrity as core club values for its coaches and players
