When the WV Governor came out for the bill, that was the signal that Manchin was green lighted to support it. He can now claim that he tried to be bi-partisan, but that getting money out to the people and states and cities (like Wheeling, Charleston and Morgantown) was too important to hold up.
I think his words have been twisted. He said he wanted a big bill. He also said he did not want all that money going to bail out pensions in those big Dem states. Pretty sure he also said he did not want the $15 minimum wage. I don't understand all of the legalities of reconciliation, but don't those things automatically go with it--i.e. those are in the House bill and therefore in the Senate bill? Don't think they covered reconciliation in my Civics class. Younger generation--did they cover it in Schoolhouse Rock?
