Wow.  Not only preachy, but certain you're right.  That's a killer combination.

Yes, we know she was cast because she not only is a great actress, but also because she's supposed to portray an obese woman.  Yes, we know it's supposed to "catch our attention."  You don't have to explain the obvious to us.  What we're saying is that her size actually [i]detracts[/i] from the character at times, because we're so caught up in the size factor that sometimes it supersedes anything else going on.  For example, in the therapy scene, the focus was supposed to be on Kevin and his issues, but all I could think about was how uncomfortable Metz looked sitting there.  Same when the three of them were sitting on the bench, as another PP noted.  This happens all the time when she's in a scene - the sheer fact of her weight "outweighs" (no pun intended) what's actually supposed to be going on.

You can really drop the defensive act.  No one is attacking her.   :roll: [/quote]
