You don’t understand. MLSN is top dog they can do anything they want even if it doesn’t make sense, they will stay BY . All the best players in the US born between Jan and Aug will flock there, as long as their parents don’t mind all the insane travel and scamming that they will go pro or get a scholarship. MLSN is real. It is not like any other league or even close.
You just hit the nail on the head. If MLSN stays BY, it will not likely be the top draw for about 42 percent of boys. I wish MLSN P2P could stay BY to mitigate RAE for boys and I hope MLSN makes an arrogant decision to stay BY and not a smart business decision to go SY.
MLS already made a "smart" business decision to implement MLS2 mostly to take over anything ECNL and other lesser leagues have gained. Over time MLS will continue to gain more and more of the boys market. Eventually ECNL will be known as a girls league only even more than it already is.
MLSN2 is an overshoot and many players and parents are not excited about the excessive travel, cost and commitment to play in a lower tier league (tier 3 behind EcNL). Some of these MLS2 games are of embarrassing quality too I don’t see that changing even if they change to SY. The idea that MLSN2 replaces ECNL is not a bet I would make.
