The standard of care for an ectopic is IMMEDIATE treatment to prevent tubal rupture and internal hemorrhage. My ectopic was caught early enough to be treated with methotrexate (one of those "abortion drugs" the pro-birth side wants banned...except it is also used for a multitude of other, non-obstetric purposes), and I was able to avoid surgery and compromising my future fertility.
