[twitter]

Such crazy, unhealthy obsession with this BRAVE team in all these posts! To be calling out and criticizing 13/14 year old girls, including their physical appearance, is so sick! Sorry if your kid didn’t make the FVU team (it’s painful for any child to be cut or replaced) but resorting to this low level is disgusting.
Agreed. Even worse is that it’s the coaches and parents at BRAVE blaming the kids to protect the coach.
Nice try Union! Right, it’s totally believable that BRAVE parents are blaming their own kids?! Lol!
“I know the coach in question. I’ve talked at great length with him about possession soccer. If BRAVE teams aren’t playing possession soccer, it’s because they can’t. He knows what makes good youth soccer. I don’t know if he’s able to recruit and retain players who can play it.”
So the assumption is that this is a BRAVE parent?! 😂 Highly unlikely as he does not communicate with parents on teams.
I'm the one who posted that. I am, indeed, NOT a BRAVE parent. I am also not affiliated with BRAVE in any way except that I know a couple of their players just from living in Vienna and getting out of the house and meeting their parents, who have never discussed BRAVE with me. (Their high school teams, yes. But not BRAVE.) I also know the coaches because I live in Vienna, though they've never coached my kids. (Maybe at a clinic back in the day? Never on a team, though.) I'm not *blaming* the kids. You could make the case that the BRAVE coaches might *want* to play possession soccer and that the players might have the physical skills and the aptitude to do it, but the coaches have been unable to instill that in the kids they're coaching. I don't know enough to know whether that's true, false or somewhere in between. I don't go to their practices. Maybe the kids should've had better coaching as U9s. I wasn't there for those practices, either. I'm guessing most people weren't. I like these coaches as human beings, and I've enjoyed talking about soccer with them. I cannot offer an informed critique of how effectively they run a training session. More generally: The fact that people want to come on an anonymous message board and feed their egos and their insecurities by concocting fake realities is seriously one of the saddest commentaries on 21st century America that I've ever seen. But I can see how it can be seductive. That's why I'm going to start assuming that everyone who disputes a point I raise on DCUM has had a lobotomy.
