My guess is they’ll talk about playoffs (GA and ECNL) again in their next podcast. But yeah, they seemed to agree that the ECNL had good teams after those top teams and the GA did not. But maybe things have changed over the past year? Those coaches are really experienced coaches!
this is correct. outside of about 15 GA clubs, the quality drops off significantly. it is just the way it is right now.
The quality of every league increases over time. Also every league has the top performers then generally everyone else. Its not like the bottom half of GA is any different then the bottom half of ECNL. Im sure some parents want to try and think one turd smells better then the others. The truth is they both stink.
Except that's not true - the bottom half of the GA is significantly worse than the bottom half of the ECNL. This is proven in tournaments all over the country every year where they play each other.
Bottom half of each are about the same. Both leagues probably have 2-3 teams that clearly stand out in conference and the rest are below average.
Seems like the college coaches in the video PP mentioned disagree. No offense, but I'll take their opinion over yours.
You're arguing about which team that doesn't win is "better" when it comes to the league that they play in. Step back and think about what you're saying. It doesnt matter. Take off the college scholarship goggles your clubs is selling you. If you spent as much time and money as you've spent on youth soccer your kid could easily get a scholorship in anything else.
Getting better as an individual player requires playing against the best competition available, regardless of whether your goal is a scholarship or just individual development.
Which goes back to previous posters point, EACH league and conference has 2-3 decent teams and the other 9 teams are not strong. Now some conference's are stonger than others in each league.
Not true if you accept the college coach's view that talent extends a lot deeper into the league in ECNL than GA. Sounds like you'll face better competition against a mid-tier ECNL team than a mid-tier GA team. Not everyone has the talent or the geographic location to play for one of the very top GA or ECNL teams. Still need to decide what the best environment for your DD to develop is. The fact that some teams in each league or conference are stronger than others isn't the point. It's where you'll get the best competition to foster development. In some areas, that might be GA. In others, ECNL. On average, most accept that RIGHT NOW the talent runs deeper into the league in ECNL. That may change, but some GA bots want to fight the premise, but only with words and not data.
