That is not an endorsement for abuse, however, your reaction to such a statement is troubled. Neither is this the proper place for your adjudication of what you perceive as abuse. If you, or someone you know, has experienced something that falls within that scope, channels exist to handle these situations. DCUM is not one of them. Get some courage and do something real about it. Make a call. Submit a report. Be an adult.
Are you somehow unfamiliar with the history of NCap? https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/ex-swim-coach-faces-15-years-in-sex-abuse-case/2070076/
I think you mean are you familiar with the club that preceded NCAP? Sure, some people probably don't know that history, but that's understandable. The news you cited came out almost 15 years ago now! Presumably every swimmer who was with the former incarnation of club has now moved on (i.e., aged out of club swimming). As for the relationship that prompted the rebranding, that happened in the 1980s! Please take a break from harping on the past by dusting off those old VHS tapes, putting some fresh batteries in your VCR remote, and kicking back with some Golden Girls or Magnum P.I. classics.
Nice attempt at brushing the history of ncap under the rug! The swimmers are now gone but those at the helm of the former Curl Burke, now NCAP club, are still in power. Some of whom knew what happened and aided in the cover up.
Head Coaches at many of the VA sites were around during the scandal and knew what was up, and never did anything. And there is the one known victim, but very unlikely that’s where it stops. At one point RC was under heat for suspicious behavior and fled to Australia leaving his club behind overnight. Was then booted from the Australian club when things got weird there. Always have to stay one step ahead of the next accusation. All it would have taken was one person standing up and saying something to prevent him from coaching another 20 years.
