I have been saying this in the World Cup thread, people are not coming here to be rounded up by ICE.
I mean the people who can afford those crazy ticket prices are probably not the ones being targeted by ICE. I say this as a Latino.
You think ICE racists are distingusihing between rich and poor brown skinned people? they haven't to date.
+1 There seem to be a lot of dumb Latinos out there
PP everyone is responding to in previous posts. Trust me. I didn’t vote for the guy and I think Latinos in everyday life should be scared. And I think the ones who did vote for him are dumb AF. But the images of a bunch of ICE agents arresting World Cup attendees/rich tourists is even too much for Trump and Co. That would really ruin their narrative (for the saps who still believe it) that ICE is only going after the bad hombres.
how are these people Bad Hombres Karen Newton (United Kingdom, 2025-2026): A 65-year-old retired school administrator from the UK was detained for six weeks starting in July 2025. Despite having a valid B2 tourist visa, she was held at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Washington. Authorities reportedly accused her of "guilt by association" and violating her visa terms because she helped her husband pack for the trip. Rebecca Burke (Wales/UK, 2025): A graphic artist and backpacker was detained for 19 days in February 2025 while attempting to leave the U.S. for Canada. Border officials claimed her living arrangements suggested she was working as a nanny rather than visiting as a tourist. She was shackled and held in a facility in Tacoma, Washington, despite having the funds to pay for an immediate flight home. Lucas Sielaff (Germany, 2025): A 25-year-old German tourist was detained for 16 days in February 2025. While returning from a short trip to Mexico with his American fiancée, he was accused of living in Las Vegas illegally. Because English was his second language, his answers during questioning were misinterpreted as a confession of residency. He was sent to the Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego. Jessica Brösche (Germany, 2025): A 26-year-old tattoo artist was detained for 45 days, including eight days in solitary confinement. She was stopped at the San Diego border in January 2025 because she was carrying her tattoo equipment, which led officers to believe she intended to work illegally in Los Angeles. Sarah Shaw (New Zealand, 2025): In July 2025, a New Zealander and her six-year-old son were reportedly detained for three weeks. Their case was part of a larger trend of increased scrutiny on travelers from traditionally "low-risk" ally nations.
You are preaching to the choir. *I* know that it’s not just bad hombres but the dummies who still support ICE do.
No, I am not. You said that he won't go after a certain kind of tourist because it would contradict his narrative and make ICE look bad. And I just listed a bunch of white well-off tourists who were detained for no good reason. I am saying, it is definitely risky for anyone to come to the US. My European relatives (white Spaniards) have already canceled plans.
