Everyone knows being popular is more important than anything else.  If Democrats want to be liked by people who vote for supremacist autocrats, obviously the best way to do that is to completely change everything about themselves so that they are indistinguishable from the supremacist autocrats. This.  When traditional Republicans and swing voters pulled the lever for MAGA, they became MAGA.  I don’t care what those kinds of voters think they “want.”  If they want closed borders and no deportations, it’s because they are what they are now—MAGA racists.  I do NOT want to “put out” for those Billies.  We need to do what’s right for migrants.  And we need to set an example for Americans.  They need to know that there is a party that doesn’t cater to hate in search of votes.[/quote]

What’s interesting about these kind of replies is the absolute certainty you have that your positions are the only morally correct ones, when a lot of the country thinks your positions are the immoral ones.
