As a Fed family, I am hoping we can turn the tide. To do this, we need to think from the other's point of view and what it looks like from their perspective. I read Fednews Reddit and it breaks my heart to see so many talented, hardworking people lose jobs. As I read the news and these posts, this is how it looks like to the average American: Musk/Trump: We are firing lazy Fed workers. Cutting costs and eliminating fraud. We would send 20% of savings as DOGE dividend checks to every individual. Fed Workers: You are uneducated and do not understand the important work we do. Because you don't read and are in a MAGA bubble. Dont you realize it is racists who are supporting Musk/Trump? Who is going to be more persuasive of the two?
I agree, as a fed family, that being upset or angry or sad about job loss and turmoil is not what the general public needs to hear. This is a thread about the illegal firings. But on a different thread, people should describe their job, the public impact and why it is needed and what won't happen when they are fired. Other than closing the national parks, it's not always obvious what direct impact federal employees have. Firing the NNSA and bird flu people has helped to increase this awareness. What about everyone else? The public should hear more.
