Someone with a failed business should be able to talk to their spouse about it and say "hey honey, reel back the spending, no more $800/week facials, stop buying new clothes, we don't need all this furniture and this many houses, etc...", but he clearly didn't feel like he could do that, so he killed himself instead to keep her happy.
