Kid didn’t even have the ball. It was behind the play and to the head.  That’s why I think it should have been ejectable it had nothing to do with the game. Does anyone know if that kid is ok? He tried to get up and then fell back down. [/quote]

Went and watched this from the NFHS feed and you are overstating it a bit. [u]Now I did not see it in person[/u], BUT what I see is white (#1 or #7?) has the ball and just passed to another player to his left. #43 in Red comes from about 4 yards and hits him. It looks like he leads with the shoulder and hits the white shoulder high and his stick contacts the white players head. No audio of players so I cant comment on that.

Late hit/unsportsmanlike/ illegal body check- Yes 
Blindside/defenseless player- No, player just made a pass and was hit from the front
Targeting- maybe but didn't seemed to be called so I defer to the crew that was there, judgement call inside of 5 yards. 
Unintentional Cross to Head- Yes, 1 min non releasable. Now mandatory in this situation
Intentional Cross to Head (2minNR)- No, I see shoulder contact and stick slide up.
Curse word and or mouthing off- No audio so can't comment, but I did not see the crew throw another flag after the fact. If they [b]hear[/b] it that would have been the case.

Final call in my book- Mandatory 1 min NR for body/cross contact to head neck. Possible 1 min for late hit, judgement call. Typically not going to stack these unless the teams were already warned and crew was trying to make a point. 
I have seen much worse, this was not that late/defenseless and off ball as first presented above and how I read it. I don't see the need for an ejection or suspension.
However, definitely illegal and should not be part of the game.

It had nothing to do with the play. There is also context... 8 seconds to go in the game. He wasn't playing defense to stop a player from scoring... the ball is actually in another players stick when he hits the Riverside player. I also, don't see how you say it was only 4 yards, he has a running start and is fully committed to the hit regardless of the Riverside player having the ball or not.... Oh also, 8 seconds and counting left in the game... dont even say "he is playing until the final whisle" we all know that is BS. [/quote]

Ma'am, I watched the play. I gave you the interpretation and I have no emotional tie to the game, context or outcome. You obviously do. BUT if you must:

You are wrong Mr. Rule Book. I'm sorry you just are.

8 seconds to go in the game is relevant. It shows an intent to injure, not playing the game (which is over).

Defense is not always being played. With this logic, a defender can just turn and destroy an attackman on the other side of the field if they wanted to.

What is "too late" in your RULE BOOK? Another player had possession of the ball, 10 yards away.... that is TOO Late....

Your eyes need to be checked, or learn how to count. #43 notices #1 and starts to angle toward him when #43s feet are on the 35 yard line, #1 at that time is on the 27 yard line. That is a 8 yard running start at the player who was not threatening the goal. That is exactly what happened.

The bottom line is, 43 was upset and frustrated and tried to take it out on a Riverside player. He did so by a high hit/cross check to the head. Helmet to helmet contact was made first, and a follow through with the stick to the head and neck area. Situation and tone of the game can 100 percent be considered (and should be) with regards to penalty enforcement.

I took another look at the stream and broke it down below for you and everyone here. You can question all you want, over react all you want but the "tape don't lie":

We will pick up where Riverside crosses the 40 and #4 has the ball outside of the hashmarks and is running toward the Independence goal on the numbers, far side. There are 17 sec on the NFHS game feed. #1 Riverside (white) has his foot on the 35 running toward the Independence goal. #43 Red is on the 46 outside the close hash marks but inside the numbers running toward the Indy goal.

At 16 sec- #4 white has made it to the 36yd and thrown a pass to #1white who receives the pass at the 30-31yd top center. #43 is now at the 38yd outside the hash and running parallel to the hash.

Still at 16 sec- #1 turns left as he is approached by a red D he is at the 29yd. 43 red at the 35yd still outside the hash running parallel to them.

At 15 into 14 sec- #1 white is at the 27yd running left toward the close hash and beginning to throw to the player to his left on the 17yd. 43 is now at the 30 at the intersection of the hash and the yard line. 43 has turned his head and chest to #1.

14 into 13 sec- #43Red makes contact with #1 white. This occurs at the 27yd about a yard inside the close hash mark. The clock is running from 14 to 13 sec left.

If you doubt me go look for yourself.

We are talking maybe 3 yards for body contact when red turns to hit white and this happens in about 1.5sec as white has just thrown the pass.

Now you said it yourself, there were 8 (13 sec or more) left in the game--- it was not over. Either is over and 0 seconds or not 8 or 13 or what I suspect as more like 20sec on the stadium clock.

If you need any reason to know why you play to the whistle. Do you think a team down by 3 would be able to come back and win in regulation with under 1 min to play? NO? Well go and google Sienna v. Manhattan in April of this year. 4 goals in 45 sec to come back and win.
