There are some voters who enjoy thinking of themselves as somehow independent, people who alone can evaluate politics clearly. Those people are going to have a hard time reconciling the GOP’s constant cries that the border is an “emergency, an emergency I tell ya!” but they’re given what they want and suddenly they don’t want it anymore? That’s not a politician, that’s a toddler. Or worse.
