I’ll keep an open mind… what was the outcome of the case where he represented 3 families suing FCPS over mask requirements? Or is it still being litigated?
Who represented families over mask requirements?
Paul Bartkowski is the lawyer who filed suit in representation of FCPS families against the Fairfax County School Board and its Superintendent, Scott Brabrand, right after the Virginia governor signed an executive order to end mask mandate in schools, and they refused to comply with it.
I thought they did comply with removing masks in schools but they had to administratively drag their feet about it for a few days first? I remember most of the teachers at my kid’s school (elementary, especially the early elementary teachers) stopped wearing them pretty much right away in March 2022 or whenever that was.
Bartkwoski filed a pro bono lawsuit in representation of FCPS families against the Fairfax County School Board and its Superintendent, Scott Brabrand, because their children’s attendance was affected by not wearing masks after the mandate was lifted. Here are two links with more background information: 1. https://abcnews.go.com/US/newly-inaugurated-virginia-governor-schools-clash-mask-mandates/story?id=82309765 2. https://fairfaxgop.org/watch-fairfax-mom-stands-up-for-county-parents-and-students/
I don't understand what you said about Bartkowski. But, in any case, I don't live in Dranesville, so I guess it does not matter. As for "defunding schools." That does not occur at the SB level. That is the BOS decision and, as I recall, they really dinged the SB for not being practical. It's not the amount of money, it is the way the SB is spending it.
