The most conservative people I know* believe in their values and their news and their truthiness slightly less than they believe in the Bible. Like, just enough less to avoid breaking a commandment. Not they lying one, the one about putting other gods before their god. They’re so sure they’re right, they’ll never explore other religions or other news sources. *I’m talking about people I actually know who used to be more reasonable and open minded, but seem to have shut that sh*t down with age and trump and pandemic exacerbated mental illness-including but not limited to anxiety and depression.
