Omg!!  YES!! No matter what problem or issue there is with the husband—it’s always “he’s on the spectrum or has ADHD”.

Just by reading these boards you would think 95% of DCUM husbands have Aspergers and/or ADHD.[/quote]

I dislike both:

The people ready to diagnose everyone with ADHD or Aspergers.
The people who have self-diagnosed as ADHD in order to explain away their rude, unkind, selfish behavior.

ADHD is a real diagnosis but it's not a justification for being a jerk. Even people with ADHD have to apologize or compensate when their disorder hurts others, just as someone with depression or anxiety is still accountable for saying or doing hurtful things, even if it's their illness explains why they did those things. But it's especially tiresome when a poster is going on and on about how it's "different for them" because of their ADHD and then it turns out they just did a self-diagnostic online and have never even sought treatment.[/quote]

This. I have ADHD and ASD. It's really freaking hard, but I work very hard not to hurt people, and when I do I try to make it right. It sucks when people use these diagnoses as an excuse to be lazy, selfish, and mean, all it does is reinforce negative stereotypes.[/quote]
