I feel like the sinister Opus Dei characters from the DaVinci Code are working in government and trying to enshrine their zealotry in law and public policy while they still can. They read the Pew studies...and see the decline in bodies literally filling the church pews and it terrifies them. The next generation isn’t that religious, so they’re trying to bolster religiously through sheer force. Barr is a complete zealot and will cheat to keep Trump in power, as he knows Trump is a useful idiots, who will act like a bull in a China shop and push conservative causes (even when doesn’t fully understand them) as he must kow tow now to a silly base of simpletons who are the only folks in America who know embrace him. Trump just wants to be loved (and to stay out of jail by staying president). Barr and the other Christian loonies at the helm are using him as some sort of mast head figure (for which they can probably pin all these bad decisions if things go bad in the future). McConnell and Cruz and the other power hungry psychos can also further their agenda under such a foolhardy imbecile. In sum, we are on a race to the bottom. They’re trying to shove their values onto an increasingly unwilling public before demographics eradicate them from their lofty perch maybe.[/quote]
