[twitter]
It’s going to be interesting to see how both Arab and Jewish Americans vote in this election
As a white American who cares deeply about this issue, I'm really not sure how to vote? Trump's rhetoric, decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem, his acceptance of $100M donation in exchange for the West Bank and his general flippant personality aren't appealing. Yet, the fact remains that 18,000 Palestinian children died under Biden/Harris. So much money was sent to Israel. Frankly, I'll probably have to abstain due to moral reasons at the federal level. Not that my presidential vote matters in Maryland...
Neither option are great but one good thing about Trump is he doesn’t fear negotiation. Again, he spoke with the Taliban just like Ronald Reagan did. Trump has business interests in Qatar. For all we know Hamas has stayed at his hotel. I don’t think Kamala can force Netanyahu or Hamas to any negotiation because she has no roots or history in the region. Trump has a footprint in the region and a relationship with both and is respected by both despite what the mainstream media likes to think. Real respect is fear and even Israel itself respects Hamas more than the President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority. Dominance makes one a giant among men sadly and Kamala just being a woman puts her at a big disadvantage (hence Putin being sexist and sarcastically wishing her a victory). Walz is super beta and doesn’t help matters. Trump is a wild card to the Middle East because he has business interests with Erdogan/Turkey, Qatar, and he’s friends with Netanyahu, MBS, and Putin. This makes him excellent as a negotiator because he has leverage. I Don’t know what leverage Kamala has. She doesn’t believe in fossil fuels or oil so half the ME isn’t going to trust a word she says. Israelis/Jews don’t like her and don’t seem to care her husband and stepkids are Jewish. Again, Trump in my opinion has potential to end all major wars going on now (Yemen, Israel, Armenia, Russia)
Trump's relaionship building works for America in a twisted way. Harris and Biden seem to have no voice internationally.
It works because he believes in peace through strength and believes in the Ronald Reagan doctrine of negotiation and ending the Cold War with Russia and the new Washington playbook ran by war loving neocons and neoliberals like the Cheneys and Hillary Clinton don’t like that. Trump plays like a New Yorker not afraid to talk to or work with anyone and not giving a shit about who’s a criminal or a bad guy. Washington doesn’t play like that. It’s all about following the “playbook” the inside the beltway “experts” laid out already. You can’t go against the Pentagon, the thinktanks, and the generals or else you’re unAmerican and a disgrace. That’s how they think
OMG you people talking about Trump dealing with foreign policy *as though he is a serious person who would proceed purposefully and thoughtfully* is hilarious in its absurdity and naivete. Are you guys high? Trump only cares about Trump, staying out of jail, and making a buck if he can. He has no time to even *try* and understand complex foreign relations matters. He LIKES dictators and wants to be one. He hasn't the faintest interest in protecting American's interests abroad or protecting our nation from bad actors. Good Lord.
Who’s going to protect us from the bad actors within, like politicos corrupted by AIPAC? My interests as an American not only don’t align with those of a foreign government acting through this charade of a lobbying organization, but I suspect they conflict across the board. Who’s going to protect us from AIPAC, and the politicians under ties influence?
Definitely not the GOP. You are well aware that they funded the vast majority of 1/6 GOP supporters in 2022? They don’t care about lawlessness in Israel or the US, as long as it benefits Israel.
