I don't not see your point. However, the point was that the French have only done boneheaded things in the past 100 years and we've had to save their ass countless times. They wouldn't even exist today with the borders they have since all the other European countries historically seem to dislike them. They have no ground to stand on, moral or otherwise. So they need to pay up.
