Are people actually trying to get over a WEEK off school? Look at the weather report - this ice is not going anywhere. You have had 8 days to dig your car out.
I think most of us are eager for our kids to get back at this point but some of us are actually concerned about the conditions out there. Believe it or not.
If you are “concerned” then feel free to stay home with your kid. Everyone else needs to get back to school. Again it has been 8 days - absent a disability you should have been out clearing the snow and ice that is in your way or making alternate plans. You should have been getting together with your neighbors to clear the bus stop. If you didn’t, now you have only yourself to blame, and the entire school system cannot be shut down due to your ineptitude.
🙄 I know it’s fun to roast people who disagree with you, but my personal situation is fine. My kids are fine. I always shovel my sidewalk. We got our car out. Their school looks okay. I have bigger concerns about some of the schools I have seen in our broader area. Some of the totally unshoveled sidewalks are on major roads near schools. I’ve walked around and some areas are no problem but in other places walking on the compacted snow and ice is extremely slippery. I agree MCPS needs to prioritize opening, but I’m not sure they can or will tomorrow. It’s a very large county with localized problem spots. That said, one of my kids in particular would really benefit from going to school tomorrow. We’ll have to see.
