I don't think so. I also don't think that (private school tuition) + (after care costs) &lt; (before care costs) + (after care costs).

It’s definitely not cheaper to pay for private school tuition & aftercare. I don’t know what those posters are talking about. I’ve researched this before. The cheapest tuition are parochial schools that charge around 11-12k on tuition alone, and then you need to pay around 6-7K for aftercare. On top of that you have to pay for uniforms and registration fees every single year. There is also a technology fee charged every year. It is about 17K-20K per kid total at the least expensive private school. There is no way before and aftercare costs that much even if it’s not SACC.[/quote]

I don't think this is relevant to this discussion but my experience was different. I had two kids in catholic school K to 5th, left the school two years ago. Tuition was $9K for the first kid and discounted $7K for the second kid. And it was even less than that when we first started, costs went up a few hundred each year. We were parishioners so that was less than general public. The before and after care situation was awesome. You paid a one time $100 registration fee and then you paid by the hour for the hours you used care. You were billed at the end of each month. So if your kid only needed one hour one day per week you paid $5. (I can't recall for sure but think it was raised to $7 by the time we left). It was open one hour before and 3 hours after. There were times when we needed to use it mostly full time, but when we didnt we weren't paying for unused time.

It was definitely more convenient than public school times and after care arrangements.

As for uniforms, you bought them new once and then traded them in at the used sales for the next size up when your kids grew. I spent less on clothes than i do now.

There were random special fees and more fundraising stuff than at public schools for sure though.[/quote]
