FLL is already a mess PP. Flight 1009 on Friday, 12/30/22, from FLL to DAL, 6:25am ET takeoff. Boarding scheduled to begin at 5:55am ET. Southwest began their onboarding announcements at 5:45am ET and outlined how we would board by sections. At 5:50am ET a text message came across to my phone, saying the flight was delayed. The announcer then said he had some bad news, and that the flight was delayed until 9am, due to the fact they had no pilot. How in the world, at 5:50am ET, did they not know they had no pilot for their 6:25am ET flight?!? All this on the day they opened back up their flights and supposedly had things sorted out? We will miss our connection home.
I’m so sorry :( We have been on multiple flights on various airlines over the past few months where a crew member came running into the boarding area at the very last minute, seemingly just as the gate attendant was drawing breath to announce that the flight would be delayed. They must have been hoping for the best as long as they could hold out. They may not have known if the pilot was working their way through the concourse or stuck somewhere miles away.
