Yeah I thought this was re: Stars 27 since it was a YJ 27. Stars 28 different situation totally
Don’t worry about Stars ‘27 too much. Likely that several Pride ‘27 will switch next year making Stars ‘27 a top team too. Pride has proven to be such a poor Avenue to playing in college.
I thought most Pride kids head to Capital? Pride 27 is a legitimate top-10 national team.
They will eventually head to Capital. This year 3 of the top 26 Pride players jumped to Stars and thus that team has now become a top 5 team. The question is will some of the 27 Pride girls jump to Stars a year early in anticipation of joining Capital?
Short answer -- no. I can't see more than 2 stars 27 players making Capital. A goalie and a low attacker. Remember the 27 Capital tryouts will be the most competitive ever since you will have a dozen BLC girls who will likely made the team. This leave 10 spots for Pride, Stars and girls from any other club. The biggest question for the 27 class is, "where do the top NoVa girls who are still D1 prospects but don't make Capital Blue go?"
So assuming you don’t want to drive to Baltimore or even Howard County, there is VA Metro, MC Elite (which has proven its capable of managing strong hs teams), MD United and, well, that’s it. If it’s truly bs a girl is cut from Capital (and yes that definitely happens) you can beg for a tryout at Heros. Finally, if you are willing to make the drive, Skywalkers is always open to giving girls tryouts and adding to their team. You just have to get the right person to call them.
Not sure why Pride was not referenced. Their 2023 class is putting together a strong list of commits to strong academic and very good lacrosse schools.
