All these Cotillion scams are a complete waste of time and money.
Add up all the money you spend on lessons and camps and other such things. Speed ahead 20 years. My guess is that your DC's will not be horseback riding, or engaging in hand to hand karate combat, or playing the lute. They will, however, be asked to attend functions where dancing takes place, and fine social graces are recognized and required.
I do not know a soul who can not dance at a party or wedding, including very basic ballroom steps. And as far as social graces go, do you not teach and model table manners at home? Have you not taught your child the correct way to receive a guest or introduce themselves to someone or introduce a friend to others? I consider that basic parenting. Can you tell I hate this thread and wish it would go away. It reeks of wannabeism and pretentiousness.
How do you "receive" a guest?
You say "please come in" and offer to take their wrap or coat, as applicable. There: I just saved y'all a ton of money and time.
