Pp. I guess I’m dumb but honestly thought that there was some way it could work even if a normal call wouldn’t work. If there’s truly zero service then no, but I thought in areas where there’s not enough service for a normal call but still SOME service, then I thought 911 got prioritized or something.

You aren’t crazy. A few years back most phones had switched to digital service but still had analog hardware which works over a wider range and likely would only be used by carrier for 911[/quote]

You’re probably confusing it with the fact that cell phones that don’t have an active/paid service plan can still call 911. But they still need a signal.
