Yes, but you can't get them covered by insurance without a legitimate medical reason--such as a pituitary tumor or a handful of other conditions that can stunt growth in kids.  If your kids are short and the rest of the family is not, it's definitely worth having it checked out.  Adults can easily get HGH from any number of anti-aging clinics around here, but it's expensive.  Same with testosterone and a handful of other performance enhancing drugs that are widely used by athletes.  There's no way a doctor would prescribe those drugs to a student athlete though, so if the athletes are using them, they're either getting them with the help of their parents or coaches, buying them from someone they know without parental consent, or ordering them online.   All of the above have been going on for decades (well, not the ordering online part, I guess, but athletes have been using steroids since they were discovered).  This is definitely not a new phenomenon.  I would echo the sentiment of the PP who said there's no way a parent would give a kid steroids at a game in front of multiple witnesses.  For one thing, if it's a boy who is indeed on the juice, he's most likely injecting the steroids.[/quote]
