We're all fully aware of Hillary's shady activity (private server, emails, speeches to banks, etc. etc. etc...). But Hillary never lied to me personally, never stole anything from me personally, and frankly, I think she looks very presidential: about as buttoned-up, conservative, and well-coiffed as a physical representative of our country should look. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has offended me personally (child of immigrants here), and I find his demeanor and his business background (casinos, steaks, cheap ties and a bogus university) embarrassing. And if he can implore the crowd to assess his alleged sexual abuse victims appearance, then I can do the same to him: He's kind of gross (and the sniffling doesn't help).
To me, it's not about looks or what offends me PERSONALLY. (geez....selfish much?) It is about which policies are better for the country, and there is no question in my mind that Trump is right - while Hillary will turn us into another failed socialist country. We simply cannot afford to throw open our borders and support all the poor, uneducated people of the world. The Lazarus poem says "give me your poor, your hungry" - true - but it does not go on to say "and America will bankrupt the middle class in order to provide them housing, food, medical care, and spending money." All we owe is an opportunity for those who come here legally.
You can't have it both ways. According to the Trump supporters she is connected to all the evil capitalists or she's a socialist. Last I looked, she's for a free market. Illegal immigration is not that big a deal given how large a country we are. And most "illegal" immigration are people who overstay their visas, but eventually go home. As for refugees, we took 80,000 total this year from all parts of the globe. Including 4000 from Europe and 25,000 from Africa and 13,000 from East Asia. We help launch them with a start, but then they have to get going on their own with help from churches and community groups. Germany took in 800,000. Trump has a limited set of policies. End trade agreements. (Yeah, right.) Bring jobs home again. (What incentives?) Build a wall. (Got a plan for the tunnels and the smuggling cartels?) Take care of veterans. (How?) Take care of ISIS. (Know more than the generals?) His proxies keep saying he will do things and then he contradicts them with his own words. Many people ascribe policy choices to him, but he himself doesn't seem to agree with what has been said in his name. People project their views onto him, because they heard some little thing they agree with.
