I know it is hard for some of you to believe that there are actually Trump supporters out there. Just watch one of his rallies. It is not far fetched to believe they are posting here too. So sorry your little liberal bubble on DCUM is no longer so liberal anymore.
What do you hope to get out of coming on here in excess of 1600 times? You seem unhappy and confrontational. Is baiting DCUM a particularly satisfying pastime?
OP here. One of the goals of the alt-right are to normalize the harmful discourse Trump spews, particularly insofar as it gives voice to a specific white, male, racist, xenophobic viewpoint. In posting 1600 times (or submitting 1600 votes to an online poll), an anonymous user can make it seem to others as though Trump as a political candidate has wider support for his views, and thereby make those views seem common or normal, when in fact they represent a stunning departure from the civil discourse of even the recent past. And, if you live in the DC area and not the deep south, you probably don't see this viewpoint as common or normal IRL, so it's an attempt at propaganda of sorts. I also think (to speak to your last point), that YES, it is a way for individuals who feel that they lack power IRL to get off on feeling powerful online, where they can feel they are righting the "wrong" of white men losing power in this country. I am a white woman, btw.
Thank you, Jeff, for the analysis! To the OP, I totally agree with your above point. On a related note., some posts on another thread make me suspect that the Trump campaign is hiring a workforce of trolls to post these endless pro-Trump messages , and on Facebook too ( eg commenting on newspaper stories). To accomplish your first point, OP.
