Not every dairy farm is a cute little mom and pop deal. There are a lot of big, gross, really awful dairy "farms" out there. I am not vegan, but I am SUPER careful about how I source my dairy, and if I can't be sure, I just don't eat it. You can be dismissive if you like, but it just takes you seem unwilling to learn anything different than your experience: the SAME thing you are accusing PPs of. At any rate, a craving does not signify a nutritional deficiency, so OP's sister doesn't need to worry. She just needs to decide if the craving is stronger than her convictions, [i]in the moment.[/i][/quote] I'm dismissive based on personal interactions with PETA people, with whom no amount of reasoning serves to undo the misinformation they've snorted. I'm from farm country and have seen the range of farms; even Mom and Pop shops aren't cute little operations anymore. I'm also SUPER careful about sourcing meat and dairy. And in pregnancy if you're craving something nutritious, best to treat it as a legitimate thing. Lots of vegetarians and vegans aren't that careful about nutrition. That's one thing when it's just you and quite another when you're growing your child's brain.[/quote]
