My brother had an Altima that lasted over 20 years. And my Dad drives the Murano. He liked his mid-2000s one better than the one he got a few years ago. Probably won't buy another one. They both have science PhDs, so maybe that's the demographic? Ha.
Ha ha. DH and I also both have science PhDs and both drive Nissans. I have a 2008 Altima and he has a 2015 Leaf which is basically free to him after a bunch of rebates and a crazy good lease deal. We both previously had Hondas, and I have to say the Nissans have a better drive. My Altima was one of the first generation CVT transmissions, and I ended up having to get it replaced...but Nissan extended their warranty on the transmissions and I didn't pay a cent for the replacement. No problems since then. Ironically, DH did briefly consider the BMW i3 after hearing about a good lease deal for them, but he couldn't bring himself to even test drive that ugly car. We're in California, so EVs are a great commuter vehicle since you get carpool lane access. I don't know about their long term durability, but we've both found the Nissan interiors to be surprisingly comfortable and spacious compared to other similarly sized vehicles. DH kind of jokes about his Leaf not being a real car, but if Nissan releases a 200 mile range Leaf he'd probably lease one again.
